”I don't know if I am a worship leader...i hope so...I do know that I am a worshiper and I hope I inspire others to capture the ”truth” side of ”spirit and truth” To love God from a place of complete honesty.”
Sarah Kelly, hailing from Rockford IL, began her amazing journey at age 22, when her pastor asked her to lead worship. Less than a year later she found herself with 7 record deal offers and a Grammy nomination. Since then Sarah has honed her skills working with rock and worship icons, knowing that she fits in both worlds and not knowing why.
”I think if I had to categorize my music, it would be called ”worship evangelism”...I love to worship...and I understand where non Christians are coming from, in fact I don't try to ”win” them, but rather take the journey with them....God draws them to himself on his own doing!”
Sarah has dealt with a past of abuse and her voice tells the tales of her suffering. With a voice like Janis Joplin and Norah Jones shaken in a bottle, she worships through her circumstances. ”Paul and Silas are my mentors in worship....We are not called to understand why God allows things, but rather, we are called to worship and trust through every situation...I get that...and I have lived that.”
Though Sarah has received 2 Grammy nods, headlined many festivals, and played the hottest clubs in LA , she remains true to the heart of the music...”My goal is to work with my churches....and to see one of four of the songs on a Sunday be originals!”...Sarah has remained true to her heart for teaching songwriting by opening 2 schools in Southern California and teaching once a month at the University of Southern California. ”To teach someone to write a song is the best thing I can give someone!...Everyone can write a song. Songwriting gave me a voice when I didn't have one...and now adds a new dimension to my relationship with God because it is hard to lie in the language of music. ....of course I want to share that with everyone I meet!”
”I made a deal with God a long time ago, that I would sing in whatever room he puts me in...and that has taken me to some interesting places...but make no mistake...I live for His Glory alone.”
