Comments on You Overwhelm Me

Love it
Luke Hursh - 7/16/2010
Sarah, I picked up a CD at a store in Dixon, IL titled Experience Worship "You overwhelm me". I know it was made in 2000, but I was wondering where I could get the chords and piano sheets for these songs. They are great and I would love to use them with our Choir. Thank you, Luke Hursh The Salvation Army Sterling, IL

Lyrics

You overwhelm me
Your goodness, Your kindness
You overwhelm me
Your faithfulness, Your mercy

Even in the morning I’ll praise You
I will put my trust in You

I come before You and lay down my crown
You are the King of my life
You lift my head and I’m blameless before You
You are the King of my life

You overwhelm me
Your nail scars, Your pierced side
You overwhelm me
the beauty of Your sacrifice

even in the night I will praise You
I will put my hope in You

I come before You and lay down my crown
You are the King of my life
You lift my head and I’m blameless before You
You are the King of my life

All glory, all honor, all mercy, all power
You are the King of Kings

Holy, holy, holy is the King of Kings

About

This was the 2nd choir piece I ever wrote. The first version of this song was definitely more ballad Disney style and makes me laugh still, but give me a break I was 8 years old!
Though I decided to leave most of the choir parts off for this recording, I know they will pop up in my future as they are too close to my heart to let go of completely.

The story that inspired this song was the woman who reached out for Jesus’ garment as he passed by her. (Mark 5:25-34) How absolutely shamed her life was, even though she did not probably deserve the lonely painful life that she had. I tried to catch the moment when she touched Jesus, and was instantly healed. That thought birthed the words "you lift my head and I'm blameless before you.
